Your London Weekend Guide: 6-8 February 2026

By Emma Brown, Local London Expert

Hello, lovely people! Emma here with your insider guide to making the most of this first February weekend. Whether you’re a Londoner looking to shake off the winter blues or a visitor eager to experience our city beyond the usual tourist trail, I’ve got you covered with a fantastic mix of social events, culture, and hidden gems.

What’s the Weather Looking Like?

Let’s be real - it’s February in London, so pack your layers! We’re looking at typical early February conditions: grey skies, temperatures hovering around 6-9°C, and the ever-present possibility of drizzle. My advice? Bring a waterproof jacket, comfortable walking shoes with good grip, and don’t let a bit of British weather dampen your spirits. Some of the best London memories are made with a warm drink in hand after braving the elements!

Top Events This Weekend

Friday 6th February

🎯 Shuffleboard Night at Electric Shuffle

Kick off your weekend with something properly fun! Electric Shuffle has transformed the classic pub game of shuffleboard into a high-tech, social experience that’s absolutely brilliant for groups. Think neon lights, craft cocktails, and friendly competition.

The Details:

  • Where: Electric Shuffle (they have multiple London locations - check the Meetup link for the specific venue)
  • When: Friday evening
  • Note: Only 6 spots remaining, so book fast!
  • More info: Meetup link

Emma’s Tip: This venue gets busy on Friday nights, so arrive a bit early to grab your lane and settle in with a drink before the games begin.

🌍 International Language Exchange in Aldgate

One of my favourite ways to spend a Friday evening! Head to the Craft Beer Co on St Mary Axe for a wonderfully diverse evening of language practice and cultural exchange. Whether you speak Spanish, French, Japanese, German, Mandarin, Portuguese, Korean, Arabic, or you’re simply curious about other languages, this is a welcoming space to practice and make new friends.

The Details:

  • Where: Craft Beer Co, St Mary Axe, Aldgate
  • When: Friday evening
  • More info: Meetup link

Emma’s Tip: The Craft Beer Co has an excellent selection of ales - try something local while you practice your conjugations!

Saturday 7th February

🚶 Countryside Walk: Waterbeach to Grantchester

Fancy escaping the city for a proper English countryside ramble? This walking group meets at Liverpool Street station for a day trip to the beautiful Cambridgeshire villages of Waterbeach and Grantchester. It’s a lovely route along the River Cam, and Grantchester is famously pretty - Rupert Brooke wrote poetry here!

The Details:

  • Meeting Point: London Liverpool Street station
  • When: Saturday morning (check Meetup for exact time)
  • More info: Meetup link

Emma’s Tip: Wear proper walking boots as February paths can be muddy. Pack a flask of tea and some biscuits - trust me, you’ll thank yourself by mile three!

🎵 FREE Classical Music + Social at Royal Festival Hall

This is an absolute gem for culture lovers on a budget. The Royal Festival Hall regularly hosts free lunchtime performances, and this Meetup group has organised a social around one such event. The Southbank Centre’s brutalist architecture is spectacular, and the views across the Thames are worth the trip alone.

The Details:

  • Where: Royal Festival Hall, Southbank Centre
  • When: Saturday (check Meetup for performance time)
  • Price: FREE!
  • More info: Meetup link

Emma’s Tip: Arrive early and grab a coffee at the ground floor cafe. After the concert, take a stroll along the South Bank - even in February, the bookstalls under Waterloo Bridge are open and worth a browse.

📚 Book Swap Meetup at Caffe de Ravello

Book lovers, this one’s for you! Bring a book you’ve finished and loved, swap it for someone else’s recommendation, and enjoy brunch while chatting about literature. It’s basically the best kind of Saturday morning.

The Details:

  • Where: Caffe de Ravello
  • When: Saturday
  • More info: Meetup link

Emma’s Tip: Bring a book that genuinely meant something to you - the conversations are always richer when people are passionate about their swaps.

💃 LEZMEET Pre-Valentine Party at Century Club

Looking to celebrate the upcoming Valentine’s season? The Century Club in Soho is hosting a pre-Valentine party that promises great music, dancing, and a friendly atmosphere. The Century Club is a gorgeous members’ venue, so this is a rare chance to experience it.

The Details:

  • Where: The Century Club, Soho
  • When: Saturday evening
  • More info: Meetup link

Sunday 8th February

✏️ Free Sketch & Social at the V&A

This is genuinely one of my favourite London activities. Grab your sketchbook (any skill level welcome - truly!) and join fellow art enthusiasts at the magnificent Victoria and Albert Museum. The V&A’s collection is endlessly inspiring, from Renaissance sculptures to contemporary design.

The Details:

  • Where: Victoria and Albert Museum, South Kensington
  • When: Sunday
  • Price: FREE (museum admission is free too!)
  • More info: Meetup link

Emma’s Tip: The Cast Courts are particularly wonderful for sketching - dramatic lighting and incredible detail. If you’ve never drawn before, just start with shapes. No one’s judging, and everyone improves with practice!

🎌 AnimanJapan Anime & Manga Club at TCR Bar

Calling all anime and manga fans! This friendly club meets at TCR Bar near Tottenham Court Road to discuss their favourite series, share recommendations, and generally geek out together. Whether you’re into classic Studio Ghibli or the latest seasonal anime, you’ll find your people here.

The Details:

  • Where: TCR Bar, near Tottenham Court Road
  • When: Sunday
  • More info: Meetup link

Practical Tips for Your Weekend

Getting Around:

  • An Oyster card or contactless payment is essential - tap in and out on all Tube, bus, and rail services
  • Weekend engineering works are common - check TfL before travelling
  • The Elizabeth Line is brilliant for getting to Liverpool Street (Saturday’s walk meeting point)

Staying Warm:

  • Duck into the free museums when the cold gets too much - the British Museum, National Gallery, and Tate Modern all have excellent cafes
  • Most pubs welcome you to linger over a single drink if you’re clearly sheltering from the weather (British understanding at its finest)

Budget Tips:

  • Several events this weekend are completely free - the V&A sketch session and the Royal Festival Hall concert won’t cost you a penny
  • Bring a reusable water bottle - London tap water is perfectly drinkable and will save you a fortune

Final Thoughts

This February weekend offers something for everyone - whether you’re craving countryside air, cultural enrichment, creative expression, or simply good company over a shared interest. The Meetup community in London is genuinely welcoming, so don’t be shy about showing up solo. That’s rather the point!

Stay warm, stay curious, and enjoy our wonderful city.

Until next time, Emma x
