London Weekend Guide: 13-15 February 2026
Your insider’s guide to making the most of Valentine’s weekend in the capital
Hello, fellow London lovers! Emma here with your weekend roundup, and what a weekend it is. Valentine’s Day falls on Saturday this February, which means the city will be buzzing with romantic energy, but don’t worry if you’re flying solo or celebrating with friends. There’s plenty happening for everyone, from language exchanges to creative meetups and even a dedicated Galentine’s celebration.
Let me walk you through my top picks for making the most of the next few days.
Weather Watch: What to Expect
February in London is classic winter territory, so come prepared. We’re looking at temperatures hovering between 4-8°C throughout the weekend, with that characteristic grey sky making an appearance. There’s a decent chance of light rain, particularly on Saturday afternoon, so pack a compact umbrella and layer up. The good news? Most of my recommendations have you indoors or under cover when the weather turns, so you won’t be caught out.
Emma’s tip: This is prime scarf-and-stylish-coat weather. London looks gorgeous in the moody February light, especially around sunset (around 5pm), so embrace the atmosphere rather than fighting it.
Top Events This Weekend
Friday 13th February
🌍 Language Exchange & Social at Craft Beer Co - St Mary Axe
Aldgate | Evening
Starting your weekend with a bit of linguistic adventure? This multilingual meetup near Liverpool Street is one of my favourite ways to spend a Friday evening. Whether you’re brushing up on your Spanish, practising Mandarin, or just curious about connecting with people from around the globe, this welcoming group covers an impressive range: German, Chinese, Brazilian Portuguese, Korean, Arabic, and more.
The venue itself is a gem. Craft Beer Co on St Mary Axe offers an excellent selection of ales in a relaxed setting, perfect for those “sorry, how do you say that again?” moments. It’s casual, friendly, and a brilliant way to expand your horizons without the pressure of a formal class.
Getting there: Aldgate or Liverpool Street stations are your best bet. The area around St Mary Axe is home to the famous Gherkin building, so you’re in good company architecturally.
✨ Your Twin Flame Journey with Theresa Cheung at Watkins Bookshop
Leicester Square | Evening
For something a bit more introspective on Friday the 13th (spooky timing, anyone?), head to the legendary Watkins Bookshop near Leicester Square. This independent gem has been a spiritual hub since 1893, and tonight they’re hosting bestselling author Theresa Cheung for a talk on twin flame connections.
Whether you’re a believer or simply curious, Watkins always creates a warm, thoughtful atmosphere for these events. Plus, browsing their incredible collection of esoteric and spiritual books is an experience in itself.
Saturday 14th February (Valentine’s Day!)
🍷 Wine Not? Galentine’s Edition (Women Only) at The Folly
City of London | Evening
Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be all about couples, and this Galentine’s celebration proves it. The Folly is a stunning venue near Monument with a gorgeous greenhouse-style interior draped in fairy lights and foliage. It’s basically Instagram heaven.
This women-only wine event is perfect for celebrating friendship, meeting new people, and enjoying some quality vino without the pressure of traditional Valentine’s expectations. The Folly’s wine list is excellent, and the atmosphere will be buzzing.
Emma’s insider tip: Book a spot early, as Galentine’s events tend to fill up fast. Also, the venue’s cocktails are exceptional if you fancy mixing it up beyond wine.
📸 Photowalk in Canary Wharf
Canary Wharf | Daytime
If you’ve got a camera (or even just a phone with a decent lens), this photowalk through Canary Wharf is a treat. The area has transformed into one of London’s most photogenic spots, with dramatic skyscrapers, waterside reflections, and unexpected public art installations around every corner.
Meeting at Canary Wharf Jubilee Line Station, you’ll explore the area with fellow photography enthusiasts of all skill levels. February light can be absolutely magical for photography, with soft shadows and moody skies adding drama to architectural shots.
Getting there: The Jubilee line takes you directly there. Pro tip: the Underground station itself is worth photographing, with its cavernous design by Norman Foster.
🤔 Let’s Discuss… Conspiracy Theories! at The Mad Hatter Hotel
Southwark | Evening
For something completely different, head to the wonderfully named Mad Hatter Hotel in Southwark for a lively discussion evening. This isn’t about endorsing conspiracies but rather examining why they capture our imagination, how they spread, and what they reveal about society.
It’s intellectual pub chat at its finest, and the Mad Hatter is a characterful venue with a great selection of drinks. Expect spirited debate and probably a few laughs.
Sunday 15th February
✏️ Free Sketch & Social at the Victoria and Albert Museum
South Kensington | Afternoon
This is genuinely one of my favourite free activities in London. The V&A is packed with incredible objects to draw, from Renaissance sculptures to contemporary fashion, and this meetup brings together sketchers of all abilities for a relaxed afternoon of creativity.
You don’t need to be an artist to join. Bring a sketchbook and any drawing materials you have, find a spot in front of something that catches your eye, and let your pencil do the thinking. It’s meditative, social, and completely free.
Emma’s tip: The V&A cafe is one of the most beautiful museum cafes in the world, with its original Victorian ceramic tiles. Treat yourself to tea and cake afterwards.
🧘 Aroma Yoga + Social at Vibast Community Centre
Hackney | Morning/Afternoon
Ease into Sunday with this aromatic yoga session in Hackney. Combining traditional yoga practice with essential oils, it’s a wonderfully restorative way to round off the weekend. The social element afterwards means you’ll meet like-minded people in a relaxed setting.
Perfect if you’ve overindulged on Valentine’s Day!
🀄 Mandarin Learning Games at Working From_ Southwark
Southwark | Afternoon
Learning Mandarin through games? Yes please. This creative language meetup uses interactive activities to make Chinese language learning fun and accessible. Whether you’re a complete beginner or looking to practise, the game-based format takes the pressure off and keeps things engaging.
Working From_ Southwark is a lovely co-working space with good coffee, making it a pleasant environment for learning.
Practical Tips for the Weekend
-
Transport: An Oyster card or contactless payment is essential. Weekend Tube services are generally reliable, but always check TfL for any planned engineering works.
-
Dining on Valentine’s Day: Book ahead if you’re planning a restaurant meal on Saturday. Seriously. Even casual spots fill up quickly.
-
Budget-friendly: The V&A sketch meetup is free, and many of the social events only require buying your own drinks. London doesn’t have to break the bank.
-
Stay warm: Layers are your friend. London buildings can be surprisingly warm inside, so you’ll want to peel off that jumper.
Have a wonderful weekend, London!
