Emma’s London Weekend Guide: 13-15 February 2026

Your insider’s guide to a brilliant weekend in the capital

Hello, lovely people! Emma here with your weekend guide for what promises to be a rather special few days in London. Whether you’re celebrating Valentine’s Day with someone special, treating yourself to some solo adventures, or simply looking to explore our magnificent city, I’ve got you covered.

What to Expect: Weather Watch

February in London is, well, February in London. You know the drill! We’re looking at typical late-winter conditions, so pack layers and definitely bring a decent umbrella. The good news? This time of year has a certain moody charm, with early evening lights twinkling along the Thames and cosy pub interiors beckoning you in from the chill.

My advice: wear comfortable, waterproof shoes (cobblestones and puddles are not friends), bring a warm scarf, and embrace the season. There’s something rather romantic about London in the mist, wouldn’t you say?

My Top Picks for the Weekend

Friday 13th February

Friday Social with World Citizens: New-in-Town, Expats & Friends London Bridge area | Evening

Kicking off the weekend with one of my favourite types of London events! If you’re new to the city, visiting, or simply fancy meeting interesting people from around the globe, this social gathering near London Bridge is absolutely perfect. The venue is kept secret until closer to the time (adds to the excitement, doesn’t it?), but the London Bridge area means you’re surrounded by brilliant restaurants and bars for continuing the evening.

Emma’s tip: Arrive a bit early to grab a good spot and settle your nerves if you’re attending solo. Everyone’s there to meet new people, so don’t be shy!

Let’s Discuss… Conspiracy Theories! The Mad Hatter Hotel, Southwark | Times vary

Now here’s something delightfully different for Valentine’s Day! Whether you’re with a partner who loves a good debate or flying solo and fancy some intellectual stimulation, this discussion meetup at the wonderfully quirky Mad Hatter Hotel promises fascinating conversation. From moon landings to mysterious disappearances, prepare to have your mind thoroughly boggled.

The Mad Hatter Hotel itself is a gem, tucked away in Southwark with that perfect blend of eccentric British charm and comfortable elegance. Their afternoon tea is legendary, so consider making a day of it.

Emma’s tip: Southwark is gorgeous for a pre-event wander. Pop into Borough Market (open Saturdays!) for some treats, then stroll along the South Bank before your meetup.

St. Giles Pub Crawl: Craft Beer, Music & Dancing Starting at The Angel, St. Giles | Evening

Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be candlelit dinners and roses! If you prefer your romance served with a pint of craft ale and good tunes, this pub crawl through the St. Giles area is calling your name. The neighbourhood is steeped in history (some of it rather colourful, involving everything from medieval hospitals to Victorian gin palaces) and the pubs here range from traditional boozers to trendy craft beer spots.

Emma’s tip: The St. Giles area is walkable from Covent Garden and Soho, making it easy to grab dinner before or after. Line your stomach properly, friends!

W is for Wes Anderson: The Archives at The Design Museum The Design Museum, Kensington | Times vary

Oh, this one has my heart! The Design Museum is hosting a deep dive into the meticulously crafted world of Wes Anderson, and this meetup group is exploring it together. If you’ve ever marvelled at the symmetry, colour palettes, and sheer visual joy of films like The Grand Budapest Hotel or Moonrise Kingdom, this exhibition will be absolute heaven.

The Design Museum itself is a stunning building in the Holland Park area, with an excellent cafe and a design shop that will empty your wallet in the best possible way.

Emma’s tip: Book your museum tickets in advance, especially for weekend visits. The Kensington area is perfect for a post-museum lunch, try the cafes around Holland Park or head towards High Street Kensington for more options.

Price: Check the Design Museum website for current exhibition prices; meetup attendance may be free but museum entry required.

Had a quiet Valentine’s Day? Sunday offers a lovely opportunity to meet other singles in a relaxed, no-pressure setting. This walk starts near Regent’s Park, one of London’s most beautiful green spaces, and combines gentle exercise with good conversation.

Emma’s tip: Regent’s Park in February might be chilly, but the rose garden area has a quiet beauty even in winter. Wear warm layers and bring a flask of something hot if you’re feeling prepared!

Final Thoughts

This Valentine’s weekend offers something for everyone, whether you’re cosied up with a partner, celebrating friendship, or happily solo. London never disappoints when it comes to variety, and February’s quieter tourist season means you’ll have more space to breathe and explore.

Whatever you choose to do, wrap up warm, stay curious, and remember that the best London experiences often happen when you wander off the beaten path.

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!
